A 3D print slicer that works out the settings for you

plymeld works out the best settings for your model from your priorities, your printer, and your filaments, then shows you everything and lets you override anything.

Your priorities decide

Instead of a profile of hundreds of settings to tune by hand, plymeld starts from the model's geometry, the facts about your printer and filament, and what you care about for this print:

  • quality
  • accuracy
  • speed
  • material
  • strength
  • reliability

It weighs the pose on the bed, the layer heights, support, how each region is laid down, and the order of objects, and shows each choice with the facts and alternatives behind it. Change or lock any of them, and the rest is worked out again around it.

Shows its work

Every setting can be seen and changed, with the file and line it came from. --explain shows the facts, the alternatives, and why each lost.

Checks before you print

plymeld reads its own g-code back and checks it against the machine and the model, and predicts time and filament.

Prints things others don't

Wave overhangs grown outward without support, curved top layers, Z anti-aliasing of sloped tops, scarf seams, and planned inserts for magnets and nuts.

Written from scratch

Not descended from any other slicer: its own geometry kernel, config format, and planner, in Kotlin. Every g-code file records what it was made from, so it can be made again exactly.

Download

From the releases page; nothing else needed.

Windows

plymeld-win-setup.exe installs the window and the command line, or use the portable zip.

Linux

The AppImage for the window, and plymeld-linux-x64.tar.gz for the command line.

macOS on the way

Not yet; build from source in the meantime.

Then set up your printers and filaments once, and slice:

plymeld init # asks about your printers and filaments
plymeld slice -m model.stl -o model.gcode # plans and slices with that config

plymeld writes g-code that heats, moves, and extrudes on a real machine. Check what it makes before you print, and stay with the printer while it runs.
